DEVELOPMENT OF EROSION PREDICTION TOOL FOR SUSTAINABLE SOIL MANAGEMENT
The Development of erosion prediction tool for sustainable soil management – Predict-Er brings a novel approach that combines nuclear, analytical, statistical, and remote sensing techniques to produce high-resolution field data, which will be modeled and integrated within a multilayer web GIS Predict -Er tool to enable predicting changes in soil erosion rates and sediment dynamics over various management scenarios. Representational and process models integrated into a user-friendly Web-GIS tool aim to support decision makers in choosing appropriate conservation measures to minimize the effects of erosion. Feedback from relevant stakeholders will be used to improve the design and performance of the tool. Models with the best predictive performance will be proposed in order to optimize the amount of input data for model parameterization in future applications in different regions. Using the Predict-Er approach will significantly affect soil and surface water quality with consequent socio-economic benefits and impact on sustainable land management strategies.
